I am selling this 1982 Honda CB 900 Custom in wonderful
condition. I originally obtained this bike from a long time family friend
who parked it for a couple of years due to engine trouble. He is the
original owner and I still work with him today. My friend rode this bike
with my father for the 20 years he owned it until it stopped running
right. Frustrated, it was set aside until one day he decided he just
wasn't going to be able to fix it, and thought of me. I adopted this bike
as though it were my child a few years ago. $3000 later, I have put about
7000 miles on her.
-
I have rebuilt the top end of the motor.
Originally thought to be a carburetor problem turned out to be the
number three valve was cracked. Anyone familiar with this model today
knows this is a common defect. A new valve, rebuilt head, seals and lapped
valves, honed cylinders with new rings and all new engine gaskets
ensures I get the factory specs for compression testing, I believe its
around 145lbs.
-
KERKER, 4-1 Exhaust System.
-
Stainless Steel hardware replaces the factory stuff on
the engine.
-
All new fluids front to back, inside and out.
-
Front Forks are just rebuilt with new lifetime seals
and ring clips and dust caps.
-
I matched the painted components, replaced virtually
everything you see and polished some of the chrome back to life, and
painted the frame black and crinkle coated the engine.
-
The brakes are new and in perfect working order. All
new caliper seal kits on all 3 Calipers and rear caliper has new
pistons as well.
Master cylinders have all new seals and hardware.
-
The charging system has $650 worth of new components
to ensure the $60 Gel-sealed Wesco battery stays charged.
-
Speedometer cluster was from another bike so mileage
is not accurate but it was only off by about 5000 miles so it's close
with about 35K actual miles.
-
Original Honda seat, has small repair on left side.
-
Currently has a K&N filter IN the air box and
factory jet and needle settings. I had a stage 1-3 jet kit and still
have the Blue K&N POD filters (2 Sets) that are shown in the older
photos at the bottom of the page, however, these items degraded the
drivability of the bike during normal driving conditions and drank
fuel.
-
At this time I still feel the bike wants a bigger jet
or higher needle setting above 8000 RPM's due to the Filter and
Exhaust combination.
Obviously this bike is nice and is ready for business. With today's gas
prices, you have a better excuse than ever to convince your wife to let
you get one. Even if your an enthusiast, this bike is for you!
